CONSULTING ACTIVITIES AND SERVICE TO THE TERRITORY
Consulting and service activities are documented by numerous agreements for which she served as Scientific Director, as well as by consultancy work carried out for various public and private institutions. These activities also include several court-appointed technical consultancies conducted on behalf of the Court of Messina and the Public Prosecutors’ Offices of Syracuse, Messina, and Reggio Calabria.
SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS
Scientific interests mainly concern maritime hydraulics and coastal engineering, with particular reference to seabed hydro-morphodynamics under sea waves, wave–current interaction, the effects of wave motion on coastal structures, and the potential for wave energy extraction. Research has also addressed the development of innovative instruments for measuring shear stresses in marine environments and the use of neural networks for wave prediction. More recently, research has focused on the transport of plastics and microplastics in coastal environments and on the propagation of oil spills in harbor basins.
