data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Il trasporto e l\u2019accumulo dei rifiuti plastici negli ambienti acquatici sono fenomeni complessi, determinati dall\u2019interazione tra le propriet\u00e0 fisiche dei materiali plastici e i processi idrodinamici e morfodinamici che caratterizzano fiumi e zone costiere. Nonostante il crescente interesse scientifico sull\u2019argomento, la comprensione dei meccanismi che regolano la dinamica delle plastiche in questi contesti rimane ancora limitata. In particolare, i modelli numerici attualmente disponibili sono stati solo in pochi casi sistematicamente confrontati e validati mediante dati sperimentali o osservazioni di campo.<\/p><p>Il <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>progetto MINOSSE<\/strong><\/span> ha come focus principale lo sviluppo di modelli numerici affidabili e predittivi per descrivere il trasporto e l\u2019accumulo dei rifiuti plastici in ambiente fluviale e costiero. A supporto di questo obiettivo, il progetto integra in modo sinergico attivit\u00e0 di <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>modellazione numerica<\/strong><\/span> con campagne sperimentali di <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">laboratorio<\/span>,<\/strong> attivit\u00e0 di <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">monitoraggio<\/span><\/strong> in <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>campo<\/strong><\/span> e iniziative di <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">citizen science<\/span><\/strong>, concepite come strumenti complementari per la raccolta di dati utili alla calibrazione, validazione e verifica dei modelli.<\/p><p>Gli esperimenti di laboratorio sono stati progettati per riprodurre condizioni di flusso controllate e per isolare i principali meccanismi fisici che governano l\u2019interazione tra oggetti plastici e flusso idrico. Parallelamente, le attivit\u00e0 di campo hanno consentito di raccogliere dati in contesti reali, permettendo di valutare il comportamento delle plastiche in condizioni <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">idrodinamiche<\/span><\/strong> e <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>morfologiche complesse.<\/strong><\/span> Le iniziative di citizen science hanno inoltre ampliato la copertura <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">spaziale<\/span><\/strong> e <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">temporale<\/span><\/strong> delle osservazioni, contribuendo alla costruzione di dataset estesi e aggiornati sulla presenza, il trasporto e l\u2019accumulo dei rifiuti plastici.<\/p><p>I risultati ottenuti da laboratorio, campo e citizen science sono stati utilizzati in modo integrato per migliorare la parametrizzazione dei modelli numerici e per valutarne le prestazioni in scenari reali. Il 19 luglio 2011 si \u00e8 laureato in Ingegneria per l\u2019Ambiente e il Territorio presso l\u2019Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Catania con votazione di 110\/110 e lode. Nel mese di gennaio 2016 ha conseguito il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Ingegneria delle Infrastrutture Idrauliche, Sanitarie-Ambientali e dei Trasporti (XXVIII Ciclo) presso l\u2019Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Catania, discutendo la tesi \u201cOttimizzazione di dighe marittime a gettata per l\u2019estrazione di energia dal moto ondoso\u201d. Da marzo 2023 \u00e8 Ricercatore a tempo determinato per il Settore Scientifico-Disciplinare ICAR\/01 presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell\u2019Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Messina. Svolge attivit\u00e0 didattica in vari corsi ed \u00e8 o \u00e8 stato responsabile di progetti di ricerca e attivit\u00e0 di consulenza.<\/p><p data-start=\"2192\" data-end=\"2554\">L\u2019attivit\u00e0 di ricerca \u00e8 principalmente rivolta allo studio dell\u2019idrodinamica costiera, dei dispositivi per la produzione di energia dal moto ondoso, della previsione del moto ondoso e della dispersione in mare di inquinanti. E\u2019 o \u00e8 stata coordinatore scientifico dei progetti europei\u00a0 EU TA HY+ WINGS (2018), INTERREG Italia- Malta 2020-27 MAESTRI, dei progetti nazionali PRIN2022 PLATONE (2024-2026), BAC RAISE Passport (2025), nonch\u00e9 di numerose convenzioni con enti pubblici e privati. Dal 2015 al 2017 \u00e8 stato assegnista di ricerca e dal 2017 al 2024 Ricercatore di Idraulica presso l&#8217;Universit\u00e0 di Pavia. Dal 2015 collabora con il CNR-IRSA, di cui \u00e8 stato Ricercatore Associato. Attualmente \u00e8 Sostituto PI del progetto PRIN 2022 PNRR MINOSSE e responsabile per l&#8217;Universit\u00e0 di Pavia del progetto INTERREG Italia-Svizzera WINCA4TI. \u00c8 ed \u00e8 stato responsabile per l&#8217;Universit\u00e0 di Pavia di vari contratti di ricerca sui temi della gestione ambientale dei laghi e del rischio idraulico con enti pubblici come Regione Lombardia, Autorit\u00e0 di Bacino distrettuale del Fiume Po, ARPA Lombardia. data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"142\" data-end=\"189\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong data-start=\"142\" data-end=\"189\">Gli obiettivi principali del progetto sono:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p data-start=\"191\" data-end=\"533\"><strong data-start=\"191\" data-end=\"198\">O1)<\/strong> sviluppare strumenti di modellazione numerica 1D e 2D per la simulazione del trasporto delle plastiche nei fiumi, tenendo conto delle principali propriet\u00e0 fisiche dei detriti plastici (dimensioni, densit\u00e0 e forma) che influenzano i meccanismi di risospensione, trasporto e deposizione<\/p><p data-start=\"535\" data-end=\"1006\"><strong data-start=\"535\" data-end=\"542\">O2)<\/strong> individuare e implementare modelli in grado di valutare gli effetti delle forzanti meteo-marine costiere sulla dinamica delle plastiche.\u00a0<\/p><p data-start=\"1008\" data-end=\"1197\"><strong data-start=\"1008\" data-end=\"1015\">O3)<\/strong> comprendere e modellare i processi di trasporto degli inquinanti plastici, avvalendosi dei dati di laboratorio per una prima applicazione e verifica dei modelli numerici sviluppati;<\/p><p data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1537\"><strong data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1206\">O4)<\/strong> sviluppare un database per l\u2019archiviazione sia dei dati esistenti sia di nuovi dati acquisiti in modo strategico relativi alle sorgenti, al trasporto, alla distribuzione e alla degradazione delle plastiche nei bacini fluvio-costieri, includendo dati derivanti da attivit\u00e0 di citizen science e da campagne di monitoraggio in campo;<\/p><p data-start=\"1539\" data-end=\"1626\"><strong data-start=\"1539\" data-end=\"1546\">O5)<\/strong> validare i modelli numerici sviluppati mediante il confronto con dati di campo;<\/p><p data-start=\"1628\" data-end=\"1752\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong data-start=\"1628\" data-end=\"1635\">O6)<\/strong> diffondere i risultati del progetto attraverso attivit\u00e0 di comunicazione e disseminazione scientifica e divulgativa.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e9737cc elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e9737cc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Ricerca condotta<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8514dfa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8514dfa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Il progetto MINOSSE si focalizzato nello studio dei meccanismi di trasporto, accumulo e destino delle plastiche (micro- e macroplastiche) nei sistemi fluviali e nelle aree costiere. La ricerca integra modellazione numerica avanzata, attivit\u00e0 sperimentali di laboratorio, monitoraggi in campo e citizen science, con l\u2019obiettivo di colmare le attuali lacune nella comprensione dei processi fisici che regolano la dinamica dei rifiuti plastici negli ambienti acquatici.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Modellazione numerica<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La ricerca ha previsto lo sviluppo e l\u2019applicazione di modelli numerici 1D, 2D e 3D in grado di simulare il trasporto delle plastiche nei fiumi e nella zona costiera.<br>Nei sistemi fluviali sono stati utilizzati:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>modelli 1D, adatti a descrivere il bilancio di massa delle plastiche lungo tratti estesi di fiume, includendo deposizione, risospensione e interazione con sedimenti e vegetazione ripariale;<\/li>\n<li>modelli 2D, capaci di rappresentare in dettaglio i processi locali, come l\u2019accumulo in aree urbane, le interazioni con strutture idrauliche e la formazione di hotspot di concentrazione.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nelle aree costiere e nearshore, la modellazione si basa sull\u2019accoppiamento tra modelli idrodinamici e modelli Lagrangiani di tracciamento delle particelle, per simulare l\u2019effetto combinato di onde, maree, correnti e vento, nonch\u00e9 processi specifici quali beaching, washing-off, biofouling, affondamento e deposizione.<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>Attivit\u00e0 sperimentali di laboratorio<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I modelli numerici sono stati supportati e calibrati mediante campagne sperimentali controllate svolte in canali fluviali e vasche ondose.<br>Le attivit\u00e0 di laboratorio permettono di:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>analizzare l\u2019interazione tra plastiche e vegetazione ripariale;<\/li>\n<li>misurare le forze idrodinamiche agenti sulle macroplastiche e i meccanismi di aggregazione;<\/li>\n<li>studiare il comportamento delle plastiche sotto azione del moto ondoso, in presenza o assenza di sedimenti.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I dati sperimentali costituiscono un riferimento fondamentale per garantire l\u2019affidabilit\u00e0 fisica dei modelli sviluppati.<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monitoraggi in campo e citizen science<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La ricerca include campagne di monitoraggio in fiumi e ambienti costieri italiani, con l\u2019obiettivo di raccogliere dati reali sulla distribuzione, composizione e concentrazione delle plastiche.<br>Le attivit\u00e0 comprendono:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>campionamenti di plastiche nei sedimenti e nella colonna d\u2019acqua;<\/li>\n<li>analisi di laboratorio per l\u2019identificazione e la classificazione dei materiali plastici;<\/li>\n<li>iniziative di citizen science, che coinvolgono studenti e volontari nel censimento delle macroplastiche lungo sponde fluviali, estuari e spiagge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Queste attivit\u00e0 consentono di integrare osservazioni scientifiche e partecipazione pubblica, aumentando la copertura spaziale e temporale dei dati raccolti.<\/p>\n<p>Integrazione dei dati e applicazioni<\/p>\n<p>Tutti i dati sperimentali, di campo e di citizen science sono stati organizzati in un database georeferenziato (GIS), che permette di analizzare la distribuzione spazio-temporale delle plastiche e di confrontare i risultati delle simulazioni numeriche con le osservazioni reali.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8c8ca7e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8c8ca7e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Risultati
