On the occasion of the 9th Symposium on “comprehensive” two-dimensional gas chromatography, and the 36th Symposium on capillary chromatographic techniques, held jointly in Riva del Garda (TN), the “John Phillips Award 2012” was assigned to Prof. Peter Quinto Tranchida, associate professor in the Pharmacochemical Department. The professor. Peter Quinto Tranchida, since the beginning of his academic career,\u00a0dedicated himself to gas chromatography techniques, focusing his\u00a0attention on the development of innovative techniques such as “comprehensive” two-dimensional\u00a0gas chromatography (GCxGC). The inventor of this technique,\u00a0in 1991, was Prof. John Phillips, who died prematurely in 1999.\u00a0Since 2004, the “John Phillips Award” has been assigned every year to those who\u00a0significantly contribute to the improvement and dissemination of this\u00a0important technique for the analysis of volatile and semi-volatile molecules in\u00a0complex samples. The professor. Tranchida carries out his scientific\u00a0research activity in the laboratories of the Analytical-Food Sector, coordinated\u00a0by Professor Luigi Mondello.[:en]Prof. Peter Q.
