CALL FOR Extended Abstract

CALL FOR PAPERS

Information for authors

The aim of the 10th UPoN conference is to serve as an exciting, highly interdisciplinary forum in which researchers interested in random fluctuations can meet and discuss on new and relevant topics related to Noise, with special emphasis on open problems and theoretical and technological challenges.

Two types of contributions can be submitted for consideration for oral/poster presentation: Original Contributions (OC) and Scientific Reports (SR).

  • Original Contributions (OC) are original works with mostly new content (theory, results) that has not been published before. Extended abstracts submitted as original contributions will be subject to blind peer review. Extended abstracts accepted as original contributions will be collected in an official volume published by Springer entitled “Proceedings of the 10th Edition of the International Conference Unsolved Problems on Noise – UPoN 2026 8-11 September 2026, Messina, Italy” free of charge.  Because of the need for a rigorous review and, possibly, a revision round, a strict timeline will be enforced for original contributions (see below).
  • Scientific Reports (SC) are works dealing with material that is not necessarily original or, if original, not yet mature enough for official publication. Scientific reports will not be subject to official publication although they will be collected and made available at the conference. Acceptance of scientific reports is  subject to evaluation by the UPoN committes. Because of this, timing for the presentation of Scientific Reports is more relaxed (see below).

Conference topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Fluctuations and noise in biology and in biomedicine;
  • Fluctuations and noise in materials and devices;
  • Noise in circuits (amplifiers, bias systems and oscillators, from ultra low frequencies to the microwave range);
  • Fluctuations and noise in nano-scaled and quantum devices and systems;
  • Noise in complex and non-linear systems;
  • Applications of noise (assessment of quality and reliability, advanced sensing applications);
  • Theory of noise and fluctuations;
  • Fluctuations and noise in in mechanical systems, buildings and infrastructures;
  • Noise in human activities (security, economics, etc);
  • Acoustic noise;
  • Fluctuations and noise in relation to deep learning and AI theory and applications;
  • Fluctuations and noise and highly complex and chaotic systems, including applications to weather forecast.

Special sessions

Special sessions can be created on specific topics and will be listed in this page as they become official.

Extended abstract submission

The Microsoft CMT (Conference Management Toolkit) is used for the submission and management of the extended abtracts, both in the case of the Original Contributions and in the case of Scientific Reports.

A link to the Microsoft CMT for this conference, together with detailed instructions, will be available soon in this page. For the time being, please note that access to the Microsoft CMT requires an account. Please check the Microsoft CMT User Login page to create an account.

Extended abstract  format

The format for the extended abstracts will be available for download from the Microsoft CMT page dedicated to the conference, together with prescribed limitations on manuscript length.

Please note: in the case of the Original Contributions, the editor (Springer) prescribes a minimum mandatory length of 6 (six) pages for the work that will be published.
You can can obtain Word and LaTeX templates from the publisher site so that you may have a clearer indication of the format and of the minimum length of the papers even before the submission service for UPoN 2026 opens.
