In occasione del 9° Simposio sulla Gascromatografia bidimensionale “comprehensive”, e del 36° Simposio sulle Tecniche cromatografiche capillari, tenutisi congiuntamente a Riva del Garda (TN), il “John Phillips Award 2012” è stato assegnato al Prof. Peter Quinto Tranchida, professore associato presso il Dipartimento Farmaco-chimico. Il prof. Peter Quinto Tranchida, sin dall’inizio della sua carriera accademica, si è dedicato alle tecniche gascromatografiche focalizzando la sua attenzione sullo sviluppo di tecniche innovative come la gascromatografia bidimensionale “comprehensive” (GCxGC). L’inventore di questa tecnica, nel 1991, è stato il Prof. John Phillips, scomparso prematuramente nel 1999. Dal 2004, ogni anno viene assegnato il “John Phillips Award” a chi contribuisce in maniera rilevante al miglioramento e alla diffusione di questa importante tecnica per l’analisi di molecole volatili e semi-volatili in campioni complessi. Il prof. Tranchida svolge la sua attività di ricerca scientifica presso i laboratori del Settore Analitico-Alimentare , coordinati dal professore Luigi Mondello.[:en]Prof. Peter Q. Prof. Tranchida is an associate professor at the “Dipartimento di Scienze Chimiche, Biologiche, Farmaceutiche ed Ambientali”. Since the beginning of his career, Prof. Tranchida has devoted his attention to the development of innovative gas chromatography techniques, such as comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC). The inventor of this technique, introduced in 1991, was Prof. John Phillips, who passed away in 1999. Since 2004, the “John Phillips Award” is assigned to individuals who contribute significantly to the improvement and expansion of this important analytical approach. Prof. Tranchida performs his research activities in the labs of the Analytical Food Chemistry Division, directed by Prof. Luigi Mondello.
